r Boot your server and watch out for Press <Ctrl><A> for Adaptec RAID
Configuration Utility. When the message appears, press Ctrl+A to go into your
Adaptec controller BIOS (also called the Configuration Utility”). Keep pressing
Ctrl+A until you get a message confirming that Ctrl+A was pressed.
r Once inside your Adaptec controllers BIOS, choose Disk Utilities.
r Inside Disk Utilities check that both your hard disks are showing properly, and
make sure they show up as SATA-II (SATA-2) just in case your hard disks have
jumpers which configure them as SATA-1 (SATA-2 shows up as 3.0Gb/s
transfer speed).
r Escape back to the Main Menu.
r This time choose Array Configuration Utilities.
r Next, choose Configure Drives
r Press the space bar on each of the drives to select both drives so that both
drives show in SELECTED DRIVES in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
r Press Enter.
r At this point you will get a warning saying : WARNING : One or more selected
drives has a valid partition and there is a risk of losing the data if configured.
Do you want to continue ? (Yes/No):”
r Enter Y for Yes.
r The screen will briefly show Configuring the drives …” and will then take you
back to the Main Menu.
r Next, choose Manage Arrays.
r Your two drives should show as SIMPLE VOLUME in the List of Arrays” in
the top right corner of the screen with your original LIVE hard disk showing on
Port 0. This step is purely to make sure we are on track, that everything has been
connected properly, and that all the steps up to this point have been followed
correctly.
r Escape back to the Main Menu.
r Now choose Create Array.
